Using works

Using a work is subject to the ownership rights to which an author is entitled under the French Code of Intellectual Property. The CPI states that an author has the right to authorize a third party to reproduce and communicate his/her work to the public.

A license agreement can be signed that authorizes usage of the work. A user may be a professional or amateur troupe or any association or organization liable to produce a show that draws on the SACD’s repertoire.

A second prerogative, not related to intellectual property rights, is aimed at protecting authors and their creative work: moral rights that cannot be transferred and which are passed ad infinitum from one generation to another, allow beneficiaries and heirs, as the case may be, to object to any prejudice to the work or its authorship.
